Books That Will Change How You See Your Body, Food, and Movement

If you’re exploring a more intuitive, weight-neutral, and self-compassionate approach to health, these books are a great place to start. They’ve shaped my own practice, and I hope they offer the same sense of relief and perspective for you.

Body Positive Power — Megan Jayne Crabbe

Megan Crabbe’s books are bold, honest, and deeply human explorations of body image, diet culture, and self-acceptance. Her writing was foundational in my own body-acceptance journey, and it’s a powerful starting point for anyone wanting to break free from harmful food and body rules.

Happy Fat — Sofie Hagen

Sofie is one of my favourite comedians, and her book opened my eyes to fat activism, in the most sensitive and funny way. It's a brilliant, funny, and deeply affirming book about living in a fat body in a world that isn’t designed for you. Both insightful and comforting, it offers a powerful challenge to cultural narratives around size, worth, and health.

What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat and “You Just Need to Lose Weight” — Aubrey Gordon

I adore Aubrey (I've listened to every episode of Maintenance Phase, many of them twice!). Her books are sharp, brilliant, and essential reading. Aubrey Gordon combines research, activism, and personal insight to explore fatness, stigma, and the myths surrounding weight and health. These books challenge assumptions in a way that’s both eye-opening and empowering.

Just Eat It — Laura Thomas

The ultimate bible on inuitive eating. It's a great intro and has a lot of practical guidance. Her accompanying workbook "How to Just Eat It" provides a great way for you to coach yourself towards eating intuitively.

Train Happy — Tally Rye

Tally is a great personal trainer with a refreshing approach to movement that centres joy, autonomy, and body respect. This book is a great intro to intuitive movement (the exercise equivalent of intuitive eating!). Includes an intro to the concept, and also some suggested exercises.
